Best laptops with number pads 2024

Quick menu

Laptops come in all shapes, sizes, and features these days, which means not every laptop you come across will meet your specific requirements. If that requirement includes a number pad, you're in luck, as I've put together the ultimate guide to buying the very best laptops with number pads (also known as numeric keypads) on the market.

If you're looking for a laptop with a number pad, you likely already know why you want one. However, if you're new to the number pad scene, let me tell you why having number pad on your laptop is a great idea.

First, it enables easier and quicker data entry. If you find yourself constantly working with numbers in spreadsheets or accounting software, having a number pad at your disposal is a godsend as it makes typing in those numbers super efficient thanks to its standardized and intuitive 3 x 3 grid layout, similar to a calculator. It means you don't need to keep looking down to find the numbers or symbols you need.

But it's not just boring data inputting that number pads help with. You can also use them to bind shortcuts, which is very helpful in gaming or custom software scenarios. Some games will even have built-in customization tools for this, letting you set any number on the keypad to a certain action or task, streamlining your control scheme and ergonomics in game.

Whatever the reason you may have for a number pad, I've done my best to round up the very best laptops with a number pad here in one convenient place that's updated every month with new products that the expert team at Windows Central has reviewed and recommended as a great buy for number pad users, whether that include the latest from Intel and AMD, or new laptops with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X chip powering things under the hood.

On the inside, the LG Gram SuperSlim features Intel's latest 13th-gen P series chips which offers impressive performance in thin Ultrabook chassis like this one. That's paired with Intel's onboard Iris Xe graphics which is good for light photo and video work. Don't worry though, if you need a better GPU, the LG Gram Style supports Thunderbolt 4 so you should be able to hook up an external GPU with ease.

We love the design of this laptop, rocking a minimalist aesthetic with a roomy keyboard and number pad. The device is so thin, there's only enough room to house three USB-C ports and a headphone jack. There's no room for full-size USB-A or HDMI ports here.

Number pad is capacitive
-
Fans can be loud

Looking for a 14-inch laptop with a number pad? These are a lot harder to come by, because 14-inches generally isn't large enough to accommodate a usable number pad. With that said, ASUS was able to figure out a clever way of fitting in a number pad on a 14-inch laptop, and that's by putting it in the touchpad.

ASUS's clever design allowed them to design a trackpad that also includes a capactive layout for a number pad. In normal use, the number pad isn't visible, and the trackpad operates as normal. But at the tap of a button, the trackpad transforms into a large number pad, excellent for typing numbers into Excel!

Of course, this number pad is capacitive, meaning you won't get any tactile feedback from using it. If you're a touch typing you relies on hardware keys, this number pad won't be for you. However, if you don't mind the idea of a capacitive touchpad, this is the only great 14-inch laptop with a number pad out there.

The laptop itself is actually awesome. It has a gorgeous 2880 x 1800 OLED display, paired with a super powerful Intel 13th-Gen Core i7-13700H, 16GB RAM, and 1TB SSD storage. It's a powerful laptop for its size, and that hidden number pad makes it all the more awesome.

If you're in the market for a laptop with a number pad that also has incredible battery life, your best bet will be the ASUS VIvoBook S 15, which just launched with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X Elite processor. This is an Arm SoC, which means it offers both great performance and efficiency for Windows on Arm. In our PCMark10 Applications benchmark test, it achieved a respectable 14 hours and 36 minutes. In day-to-day usage, it simply lasts all day in office-based workflows.

The ASUS VivoBook S 15 is a total workhorse, with a 15.6-inch 3.2K 120Hz OLED display which looks gorgeous, paired with a full-sized RGB backlit keyboard, ginormous touchpad, and you guessed it, a number pad to the right of the keyboard for all your number needs.

The laptop is also incredibly light, coming in at 1.42kgs making it the perfect travel companion for going between home and work on a daily basis. Slip it into you backpack and you'll never know it's there!

This laptop also comes with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD storage which should be plenty for all the office-related workflows and tasks you're likely to want to complete on a device designed for long battery life and a number pad.

How we test laptops with number pads

The best laptop with a number pad will ultimately come down to preference. Are you looking for a workhorse with lots of power under the hood? Or are you after something more lightweight? One thing is for sure, you will be looking for a laptop with a large screen, as that's the only way most OEMs are able to fit a number pad on the keyboard deck.

We think the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra is an all-round amazing laptop with a number pad. It's powerful, stylish, has an excellent display, and a great number pad. That said, it is a little overkill for a lot of people. So there's also the Galaxy Book3 Pro, which is a more mainstream offering from the same company, also with a trackpad.
